PRODUCING THROGH A HARD BUS

A super noval hack to help you create a unique sonic soundscape from the onset is to setup some super aggressive master bus processing, such as a super slammed l2 Limiter, and create your piece of music through this processing. This process forces you to select components that don't over load the processing and you need to find a way to make the elements sit coherently within the hard bus. I find the result tends to lean towards a more minimal sound thats uber punchy and sonically futuristic.

This is a great way of mixing up your creative approach, finding some fresh inspiration and exploring new sonic capabilities. Slam an L3 hard on your master bus and compose straight through it. You'll find that in order to keep the sound tame you'll opt for more interesting and minimal sound choice.
