NEW SITE IN DEVELOPMENT FOR LATEST ALBUM RELEASE COMING 2026 (CHECK FOR UPDATES)

Abakus is a psychedelic electronica project debuted in 2004 with That Much Closer to the Sun on Youth's Liquid Sound Design label, critics described it as a record that "redefined downtempo," and over the following two decades it became a cult classic in psychedelic electronica, a touchstone reference for psychill and psydub listeners worldwide.

Six further albums followed - We Share the Same Dreams, Prisms , Silent Geometry), Departure, The Archives, and Dreamscapes - each charting an evolving territory between chilled downtempo, immersive ambient, and soaring progressive electronica. Across the catalogue, the Abakus signature has remained consistent: lush three-dimensional sound design, organic and synthetic textures in conversation, melodies built to elevate.

Russ's parallel projects sit alongside Abakus as a connected creative universe. Cinnamon Chasers with 100’s millions streams - his nu-disco and synthwave alter-ego - released the single Luv Deluxe in 2009, which went on to win Best Music Video at SXSW, . His third alias Aiiso signed to Anjunadeep, with Jody Wisternoff and James Grant remixing Luv Deluxe and the Your Love Is An Echo EP welcoming him into the Anjunadeep family.

Beyond the alter-egos, Russ has composed the electronic-orchestral score for BBC's War of the Worlds (2019) and BBC America's The Watch (2022), as well as Saman Kesh's short film Controller. In 2016 he co-wrote and produced Open Road with his father Dave Davies - a fusion project blending organic guitars with ambient electronica.

Most recently, the Clouds EP dropped on Anjunadeep in 2025, alongside the Silent Geometry 2.0 mix on Modus Recordings. A new Abakus album lands in 2026 - the most potent, most danceable transmission yet from a project that has spent twenty years quietly building one of the most distinctive bodies of work in psychedelic electronica.

Based between London and Lisbon.
